We Hear You - WHY: The low level of youth participation in democratic processes, as well as the distrust young people show towards the democratic institutions and values may result in exclusion and social marginalization. The WHY project is providing a basis for an improved culture amongst youth professionals, as well as structures that will support democratic dialogue and youth involvement in order to promote civic participation, create participatory mechanisms, thus preventing marginalization and its negative effects on individuals and society.

This final two days event will among its main objectives share a database to identify and share existing methods and tools (practices) and two online courses for youth professionals. One is focusing on the development of professional communication skills that promote democratic dialogue and civic participation the other on reflection, self- awareness, attitudes and the effect these have on young people.

The first day in the Veneto Region’s Brussels office will target EU institutions, local and Regional stakeholders and professionals, the second in Ghent organized in collaboration with the city itself is thought to inspire youth participation and will address both young people and professionals. The future impact and follow-up of the work done in the project will be exploited and planned towards a more social inclusive Europe for youth in the framework of the 2030 agenda and the implemention of the European Pillar of Social Rights as the vehicle for the Sustainable Development Goals in the social area (https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org).
