ECIPE Seminar: Growth or Slowdown – What’s Happening in the Chinese Economy?

Economic, Financial, and Banking Affairs
screen-shot-2014-12-10-at-16-16-48
Date: Wednesday, 23 October 2019 14:00 - 15:30

Venue: ECIPE Office, Av des Arts 40, 6th floor, 1040 Brussels

China’s economic transition is at a critical juncture. The economy is facing challenges with elevated trade and technology tensions on the external side, and headwinds from regulatory tightening on the domestic front. How can China successfully shift from high speed to high quality of growth amid the current uncertain environment while continuing with deleveraging and rebalancing?

At this event, we’ll hear a presentation of the IMF’s latest review of the Chinese economy, followed by a discussion.

Speakers:

Kenneth Kang, Deputy Director of the IMF Asia Pacific Department

Longmei Zhang, IMF Deputy Resident Representative for China

Erik van der Marel, Senior Economist, ECIPE

Moderated by Fredrik Erixon, Director, ECIPE
