On 14 January, IMCO Committee will hold a hearing on Non-tariff barriers to Trade in the Internal Market. The discussions will focus on defining and addressing cross-cutting NTBs in the Single Market and sector-specific NTBs.

Tariff barriers were successfully removed almost fifty years ago, but it is the continuing challenge of removing non-tariff barriers that motivates single market initiatives today. The removal of NTBs would help businesses across the EU, but the main beneficiaries would be consumers through lower prices and increased choice.
